Silver Cuff Bracelet with Wild Rose
Silver Cuff Bracelet with Wild Rose
Made by a technique called chasing & repousse, this wide cuff bracelet is a one-of-a-kind work of art! The main ‘canvas’ is made from fine .999 silver, with a sterling silver backing along the edges to lend strength and support. At 1.5” wide, this cuff is big enough to make a statement! You’ll feel like royalty, or Wonder Woman, when wearing this (at least, that’s how I feel when wearing mine)! A medium size, it will fit a 6.5-7.5” wrist circumference.
I hand hammer the design from both sides (back to create volume, and front to work the details) then solder on the backing and finish with curving on a bracelet mandrel and polishing. This is a relatively new technique for me, I learned it this summer in a workshop with Fabrizio Aquafresca, a 9th generation Italian master at this technique (can you imagine 9 generations of your family all excelling at the same craft?!). It was love at first hammer- something about this technique combines everything I adore about making wax jewelry models & carving marble, and also allows me a larger canvas than my other designs.
I’ve included photos of the process below as well, because its so interesting to see the design take shape! To see videos of this bracelet finished and in progress, check out my YouTube channel!
