Byzantine Medallion, silver with purple gemstones

Byzantine Medallion, silver with purple gemstones
Inspired by the Byzantine artwork I saw when I studied in Florence, Italy my junior year of college, this medallion is a statement!
At just over 1 ¼ inch in diameter (and hanging 1 ½ inch from the chain), the array of spakling gemstones, intricate hand-carved settings and textures grab the eye. I turned the traditional ‘cross’ theme on the diagonal so it keeps the look but isn’t religious.
The varying shades of purple gems complement each other and create a feminine twist to this bold design. With a black spinel at the center, amethyst cabochons, purple sapphire marquises, tanzanite squares and iolite trillion cabochons, there is a lot of color!
I hand-carved the model for this pendant in one piece, including the stone settings and the details in the bail at the top. I have one other for sale currently with pink gemstones. These have a solid feel, and smooth back with ‘windows’ open behind the gems. Comes with a solid 2mm chain in 18” or 20” length, please specify when ordering.
